Sparse Population Program

The goal of the program is to ensure good living conditions for families living in sparsely populated rural areas and thereby contribute to maintaining the population in these areas.

Max funding	The maximum support from the program for one household is 6,500 euros.
Coverage	The support constitutes up to 67% of eligible project costs; the applicant and co-applicant's own and co-financing must together make up at least 33% of eligible project costs.

Grant application conditions

Applicant requirements	The applicant's permanent residence is a household located in a sparsely populated area from January 1 of the application year until the signing of the support agreement, and the project for which support is sought is related to this household. According to the population register, the applicant's residence has been continuously the same household from January 1 of the application year until the signing of the support agreement. The applicant has no tax debt to the state or local authorities, except in cases where it has been deferred.
Co-applicant requirements	The co-applicant must meet the same requirements as the applicant and confirm the application form with their signature.
Project duration	The project must be completed by October 31 of the year following the application round at the latest.

Eligible expenses

In the field of water supply systems: construction and cleaning of boreholes and dug wells, construction of well houses, installation of water pipelines and their connection to the indoor water supply system, purchase and installation of equipment necessary for water pumping and purification, connection to a public water supply system, demolition of old boreholes, surveying of outdoor water supply systems, and drinking water quality analysis.

In the field of sewage systems: construction or improvement of systems necessary for wastewater collection and treatment.

In the field of access roads: construction or improvement of access roads connecting the household to a public road.

In the field of autonomous electricity systems: construction or improvement of autonomous systems necessary for supplying electricity to the household.

Application process

When the application round is announced, the local government informs applicants about the application conditions and deadlines.

The applicant submits the application along with the required additional documents in the manner and by the deadline specified by the local government.

The local government processes the applications, assesses their compliance with the requirements, and makes a decision on whether or not to provide support.
