Access to research infrastructure services to enable R&I addressing EU priorities and emerging challenges

This grant aims to provide trans-national and virtual access to integrated and customised research infrastructure services for challenge-driven research and innovation in various priority areas of the EU. Its goals include enabling advanced research through state-of-the-art infrastructures, fostering cross-disciplinary activities and innovation, supporting early-career researchers from widening countries, improving data management according to FAIR principles, and helping address scientific and societal challenges such as cancer, sustainable agrifood, polar ecosystems, material circularity, semiconductors, and geosphere research. The grant also promotes sharing of knowledge and resources, cross-sectoral partnerships, and sustainable development aligned with key EU policies.

Grant application conditions

Admissibility	Application page limit: 100 pages. Applicants are not required to include a plan for exploitation and dissemination of results, as the focus is service provision. Proposals must follow templates and guidelines outlined in the Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes and Submission System.
Eligible countries	EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries are eligible. Legal entities in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, India, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Singapore, and USA that provide access to their research infrastructures for EU researchers are exceptionally eligible for Union funding.
Consortium composition	Proposals must include at least one ESFRI Landmark or European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) as a beneficiary or an eligible host entity. JRC may participate as a member or associated partner with zero funding.
Access provision	Proposals must clearly focus on the provision of access to existing research infrastructure services relevant to one of the specified areas. Access can be on-site, remote, and/or virtual and must be made available to a broad user base. The portfolio of services must be outlined in the proposal.
Areas covered	Proposals must address one of these areas: Advancing cancer research; Sustainable agrifood systems; Polar ecosystems; Material circularity; Semiconductors; Geosphere research.
Training and outreach	Proposals must exploit the training potential (notably for early-stage researchers, widening and candidate countries). Include outreach and engagement plan targeting relevant communities and industries.
Financial and operational capacity	Applicants must fulfill capacity and exclusion conditions as described in the Work Programme General Annexes.
Intellectual property	Beneficiaries must grant royalty-free access to intellectual property relating to tools, standards, specifications, and outputs to EU institutions and EU-funded project beneficiaries, through a mechanism to be defined in the proposal.
Gender dimension	Integration of the gender dimension in research content is not mandatory but may be required in user calls where relevant.
