Circulation of European literary works

This action supports projects that translate, publish, distribute, and promote European works of fiction. Projects will promote the diversity of literature in the target country or countries, with a focus on works written in less widely translated languages. The grant aims to support the profession of literary translator, foster collaboration across the book value chain, and advance EU priorities in greening, digital transition, inclusion, and gender equality.

Grant application conditions

Eligible Applicants	Either a single entity (mono-beneficiary) or a consortium of organisations (multi-beneficiary) operating in the book and publishing sector, such as publishers, booksellers, libraries, literary event organizers, or other actors in the book value chain.
Eligible Projects	Projects must translate, publish, distribute, and promote European works of fiction. Particular emphasis on works written in less widely translated languages. Encourage collaboration between different actors in the book sector.
Geographical Scope	As described in the call document Section 6 (Eligibility).
Budget for Translators	Recommended: 20–30% of the total project budget should be allocated to translator remuneration, respecting fair working conditions and recognition.
Translator Contracts	Publishers must sign contracts with professional literary translators, reference translators in the Creative Europe database, and observe national standards and best practices, including recommendations from CEATL and the ‘Translators on the cover’ report.
Ukrainian Language Support	Projects aimed at providing literary works in Ukrainian to Ukrainian refugees and displaced people are encouraged; printing Ukrainian works in Ukrainian (not translated) is eligible.
Page Limit	Technical description (Part B) is limited to 70 pages.
Application Requirements	Applicants must supply deliverables, milestones, and a risk assessment in grouped work packages.
