Circulation of European literary works

Supports projects for translating, publishing, distributing, and promoting European literary works, including novels, short stories, theatre plays, radio plays, poetry, literary reportage, comics, and children's or youth literature. The action aims to increase the transnational circulation, diversity, and readership of European literature, promote linguistic and cultural diversity, support the profession of literary translators with fair remuneration, and encourage cooperation throughout the book value chain. Extra emphasis is given to activities involving Ukrainian books and translations in response to the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

Coverage	The programme provides lump sum grants. It is recommended that 20–30% of the project budget for novels is allocated to the remuneration of translators.

Grant application conditions

Eligible Applicants	Applicants must be organisations or consortia active in the book and publishing sector, including publishers, NGOs, and cultural entities, legally established in Creative Europe eligible countries (EU Member States and other participating countries).
Eligible Countries	Applicants must be established in EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories) or eligible non-EU countries associated with the Creative Europe Programme.
Admissibility Conditions	Proposals must comply with page limits (70 pages max for Part B) and requirements described in the call document sections 5 and 6.
Eligible Works	European literary works written by authors linked to eligible countries by nationality, residence, or recognition as part of European literary heritage; includes novels, short stories, theatre/radio plays, poetry, literary reportage, comics, and children's/ youth literature.
Translation Standards	Translations must be undertaken by professional human translators; machine translation is excluded. Translators must be credited (preferably on the cover) and source language indicated.
Budget Allocation	It is recommended that 20–30% of the project budget for novels is allocated to translators' remuneration.
Page Limit	Technical description (application part B) is limited to 70 pages.
Documents Required	Completed application form, detailed budget table, declaration on publications, and relevant annexes must be provided.
Special Support for Ukraine	Proposals including the circulation and/or translation of Ukrainian books (into, from, or within Ukrainian) are encouraged, including providing books in Ukrainian for Ukrainian refugees and displaced people.
