Co-creating solutions for soil health in Living Labs

This grant aims to establish and support Living Labs across at least three EU or Horizon Europe Associated Countries to co-create, test, and implement solutions addressing soil health challenges. The initiative contributes to the European Green Deal and Mission 'A Soil Deal for Europe' by fostering participatory, interdisciplinary research and implementation in real-life settings. Activities involve collaboration among stakeholders such as land managers, scientists, industry, public administrations, and civil society, with a focus on practical, locally adapted innovations to improve soil health, promote sustainable land management, and enhance policy design.

Grant application conditions

Eligible Applicants	Legal entities established in EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries; multiple types of entities including companies, NGOs, government organizations, research institutions, and private individuals.
Consortium Requirement	Projects must set up at least four to five Living Labs located in at least three different EU Member States and/or Associated Countries.
Admissibility and Eligibility	Admissibility conditions are described in Annex A and Annex E of the Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes. Eligible countries are specified in Annex B. Applicants must apply the multi-actor approach. Other eligibility criteria per Annex B.
Multi-actor Approach	Projects must involve a range of stakeholders (e.g., researchers, land managers, industry, public administration, civil society) in co-creation and implementation activities.
Geographic Scope	Living Labs must operate in at least three different EU Member States and/or Associated Countries and may address diverse land use and soil health challenges. Labs focusing exclusively on urban areas are not eligible under this topic.
Duration	Project duration typically up to 4 years, but may be longer depending on scope and focus.
Financial Support to Third Parties	Possible up to EUR 200,000 per third party, including via calls, to support active involvement of stakeholders such as farmers, businesses, or civil society.
