Cross-border renewable energy works projects

This grant funds cross-border renewable energy (CB-RES) works projects that contribute to the Clean Industrial Deal, the Paris Agreement, and the EU's 2030 climate and energy targets, supporting the Union’s objective for climate neutrality. The objective is to promote cross-border cooperation between EU Member States, or between Member States and third countries, for planning, development, and cost-effective exploitation of renewable energy sources, as well as integration with storage facilities, contributing to long-term decarbonisation, energy market integration, and enhanced security of supply. Activities supported may include purchase, supply, and deployment of components, systems, services, software, as well as construction, development, installation, and acceptance of installations within CB RES projects.

Coverage	Funding coverage and maximum contribution per project are determined according to the rules in the call document. Commercial non-viability of the investment without CEF support must be demonstrated.

Project Scope	Proposals must contribute to the implementation of a CB RES project as defined by the CEF Regulation and relevant delegated regulations. Works projects must comply with specific CEF regulation conditions, including demonstrating significant cost savings or benefits (system integration, environmental sustainability, security of supply, innovation), and commercial non-viability without CEF support.
Component Eligibility	Project components must be covered by Article 3 of the delegated regulation; see relevant technical documentation for eligible lists.
Priority for Renewables Generation Components	Works related to renewable generation components are prioritized over non-RES components. Non-RES components must be justified as essential for project implementation.
