External Borders: studies, works or mixed

The objective of this call is to modernise transport infrastructure on the TEN-T network with the purpose of facilitating traffic flows for rail and road transport at border control areas at the Union external border of the TEN-T network. The scope includes works and/or studies related to projects that improve rail and road connections to border crossing points, as well as parking lines and spaces related to border controls. Support is given to rail projects facilitating traffic flows at the TEN-T Border Crossing Points, including interoperability enhancements, and to the upgrade of parking spaces for trucks, waiting areas, and road lane capacity from parking spaces to the border control points and between them, provided that these actions facilitate traffic flows at the Union external border. Certain border check equipment, such as smart IT solutions or fixed devices integrated into transport infrastructure, may be supported as part of broader infrastructure projects. Mobile equipment, administrative buildings, storage and warehouse facilities, and parking facilities for border officers are not eligible. Priority will be given to upgrading existing border crossing points for coordinated bi-directional controls and projects located on the TEN-T European Transport Corridors. Supported facilities and infrastructure must be accessible to all operators on a non-discriminatory basis.
