Improving climate and weather models for Africa

This grant aims to improve the quality and performance of weather and climate models tailored to Africa's needs, supporting adaptation actions, disaster risk response, and the implementation of EU and AU strategies. It enhances weather predictions and climate projections, empowers African communities to address climate change, and strengthens African climate research, representation, and global contribution. The initiative emphasizes partnerships between African and European institutions, with a focus on local capacity-building, knowledge exchange, leveraging high-performance computing, and access to research infrastructures.

Grant application conditions

Admissibility Conditions	Proposal page limits and layout as described in the Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes, using the application forms provided.
Eligible Countries	Legal entities established in all African Union member states, EU Member States, and countries associated to Horizon Europe. Some non-EU/non-Associated Countries may also participate if provisions are made.
Beneficiary Composition	At least 30% of beneficiaries must be legal entities established in African Union member states (including those temporarily suspended).
Use of Satellite-based Data	If using satellite-based earth observation, positioning, navigation and/or timing data, projects must use Copernicus and/or Galileo/EGNOS; other sources may also be used.
Open Science Obligation	Open access to any new modules, models or tools developed must be ensured through documentation, code, and input data availability.
Financial and Operational Capacity	Applicants must demonstrate financial and operational capacity as described in the Work Programme General Annexes.
