Large-scale Hydrogen Valley

The Large-scale Hydrogen Valley grant aims to develop and demonstrate hydrogen ecosystems that cover a specific geography, integrating hydrogen production, storage, distribution, and end-use technologies across multiple sectors such as energy, industry, and mobility. These projects are designed to accelerate the deployment of hydrogen technologies, contribute to EU climate goals, and foster the emergence of regional hydrogen economies.

Grant application conditions

Proposal Page Limit	70 pages for Innovation Actions.
Eligible Countries	EU Member States, Associated Countries, and other eligible countries as described in Annex B of the Horizon Europe Work Programme.
Consortium Membership	At least one partner in the consortium must be a member of either Hydrogen Europe or Hydrogen Europe Research.
Maximum Contribution	The maximum Clean Hydrogen JU contribution that may be requested is EUR 20.00 million.
Hydrogen Production Requirement	Production of at least 4000 tonnes of clean hydrogen per year using new hydrogen production capacity.
Sectoral Applications	At least two hydrogen applications from two different sectors (e.g., energy, industry, transport).
Infrastructure Integration	Demonstrate integration of new built infrastructure with existing infrastructure.
Monitoring and Assessment	At least two years of operations must be monitored and assessed.
Communication Plan	A professional and ambitious communication plan with measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Financial Viability	Demonstrate how financial viability is expected to be reached after two years of operation.
Safety Planning	Provide a preliminary hydrogen safety planning and management plan at the project level.
Replication and Cooperation	Facilitate knowledge transfer and replication of Hydrogen Valleys across the EU.
