Revitalising neighbourhoods around existing railway and motorway corridors

This grant aims to develop and demonstrate innovative solutions for mitigating the negative environmental, ecological, economic, social, and health impacts of active railway lines and motorways on adjacent neighbourhoods, to revitalise these areas in line with the sustainability, inclusion, and aesthetic values of the New European Bauhaus. Projects are expected to demonstrate and assess measures in urban, peri-urban, and rural settings across different EU Member States or Associated Countries, ensuring a participatory and transdisciplinary approach and contributing to the urban greening goal of the Nature Restoration Regulation.

Grant application conditions

Admissibility Conditions	Proposals must adhere to the page limit and layout requirements described in the Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes and the Application Form.
Eligible Countries	Applicants from countries listed in Annex B of the Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes and the Programme Guide are eligible.

Financial and Operational Capacity	Applicants must comply with requirements for financial and operational capacity as set out in Annex C of the Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes.
Proposal Scope	Develop and demonstrate a package of measures to mitigate the negative effects of active railway lines and motorways on surrounding neighbourhoods and revitalise them. Implement measures in three distinct neighbourhoods (urban, peri-urban, rural) located in different Member States and/or Associated Countries. Measure and assess the environmental, ecological, economic, social, and health impacts at the demonstrator sites. Identify and propose solutions for barriers hindering implementation, including regulatory aspects. Ensure scalability and replicability of measures through guidance and best practices. Adopt a participatory and transdisciplinary approach, co-creating solutions with relevant stakeholders. Allocate at least 0.8% of the budget for activities with the 'New European Bauhaus hub for results and impact'.
Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) Involvement	Proposals must involve SSH disciplines and experts to enhance the societal impact of research activities.
