AI supporting informed advice for farmers and foresters to improve competitiveness and sustainability

The grant aims to develop, test, validate, and pilot innovative AI-based solutions that provide advisors, farmers, and foresters with comprehensive, tailored, and impartial advice, improving decision-making and the adoption of innovative practices. The objective is to enhance the competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience of the EU agriculture and forestry sectors by building capacity and skills, optimising management operations using existing and new data, and increasing the use of AI technologies. Proposals should involve multiple stakeholders across Europe and address synergies with other relevant EU-funded initiatives.

Grant application conditions

Admissibility Conditions	Proposal page limits and layout as described in Annex A/E of the Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes and Part B of the Application Form.
Eligible Countries	Participants must be from countries eligible under Horizon Europe. Some non-EU/Associated Countries may participate if they have made funding provisions, as described in Annex B.
Restrictions on Control in Critical Technology Areas	Entities directly or indirectly controlled by China or by a legal entity in China are not eligible to participate.
Earth Observation/Navigation Data Usage	If using satellite-based earth observation, positioning, navigation, or related data, beneficiaries must use Copernicus and/or Galileo/EGNOS (other sources may additionally be used).
Multi-actor Approach	Proposals must apply the multi-actor approach as defined in the work programme, involving relevant actors such as SMEs, start-ups, end users, universities, and research organisations.
Participation of the Joint Research Centre (JRC)	JRC may participate as a beneficiary with zero funding or as an associated partner, but not in project preparation or proposal submission.
Financial and Operational Capacity	Applicants must meet the financial and operational capacity and exclusion conditions described in Annex C.
Award Criteria and Scoring	Award criteria, scoring, and thresholds are described in Annex D.
Lump Sum Funding	Eligible costs are reimbursed as a lump sum, according to the Horizon Europe lump sum decision of 7 July 2021.
