This grant supports the advancement of Europe's leadership in trapped-ion quantum computing. The expected outcomes include the development of a full-stack ion-trap quantum computer with over 1,000 qubits, its integration with high-performance computing (HPC) systems and cloud accessibility, demonstration of quantum advantage for real-world applications, strengthening of modular and scalable quantum computing architectures, implementation of advanced error correction techniques, and integration of standardised full-stack hardware-software systems. The action also aims to foster industrial and academic engagement through open access, support European supply chains, and address key technical challenges for trapped-ion quantum computing in line with the Strategic Research and Industry Agenda (SRIA 2030).
