Biotech for Climate Resilient Crops and Plant-Based Biomanufacturing

This grant supports projects that enhance adaptation pathways for the production of climate-resilient crops and develop alternative pathways to produce high-value ingredients in plants. The goal is to achieve energy- and resource-efficient, low-emission foods that maintain or increase biodiversity and are integral to a healthy diet.

Grant application conditions

Consortium Requirements
  • Consortia of two entities must include independent legal entities from two different Member States or Associated Countries. Consortia of three or more entities must include at least three legal entities, independent from each other, and each established in a different country: at least one in a Member State and two in different Member States or Associated Countries.
Single Beneficiary Projects
  • Only universities, research organizations, SMEs, start-ups, and natural persons are eligible. Mid-caps and larger companies are not permitted.
Geographic Restriction
  • Applicants must be established in a Member State or an Associated Country.
Project Scope
  • Projects must develop technologies that reach TRL4 (validation in a laboratory environment) with viable plants at the end of the project.
Evaluation Criteria
  • Proposals must address excellence, impact, and quality and efficiency of implementation, described in the EIC Work Programme 2025.
