Digital Flight Rules
The grant aims to advance the development of 'digital flight rules' as a new concept to complement visual flight rules (VFR) and instrument flight rules (IFR). It focuses on integrating cooperative surveillance systems for both crewed and uncrewed aircraft, enabling automated vigilance and manoeuvring. The research also includes analysis of changes to ICAO Annexes and the evolution of the human operator's role in a highly automated air traffic management (ATM) environment.
