Next Generation Internet Fund (RIA)

The Next Generation Internet Fund aims to nurture a structured human-centric internet ecosystem by turning digital values into motivating challenges for top value-driven open-source innovators in Europe. It supports the creation, maturation, and growth of new internet commons encompassing the entire internet stack, from open hardware to vertical applications, fostering trust, privacy, decentralization, and socio-economic benefits.

Admissibility conditions

Financial and operational capacity
  • Described in Annex C of the Work Programme General Annexes.
Award criteria
  • Described in Annex D of the Work Programme General Annexes. Includes capacity and proven experience of the consortium to create and grow internet commons based on open-source software, hardware, and standards.
Legal and financial set-up
  • Described in Annex G of the Work Programme General Annexes.
Support to third parties
  • Beneficiaries must provide financial support to third parties in the form of grants.
  • Maximum amount per third party: EUR 500,000.
  • A minimum of 80% of the total requested EU contribution must be allocated to financial support to third parties.
