Grant application conditions

Eligibility
  • Researchers must hold a PhD at the time of the deadline for applications.
  • European Fellowships are open to researchers of any nationality wishing to conduct research in Europe.
  • Global Fellowships are open to European nationals or long-term residents wishing to conduct research outside Europe with a mandatory return phase.
Duration
  • European Fellowships: 12-24 months.
  • Global Fellowships: 12-24 months outgoing phase plus a mandatory 12-month return phase.
Secondments
  • Secondments can be included for up to one-third of the fellowship duration.
  • For Global Fellowships, secondments are allowed during the outgoing phase but not during the mandatory return phase.
Placements in the non-academic sector
  • An additional period of up to 6 months can be included for placements in the non-academic sector within the EU or Horizon Europe Associated Countries.
Training Activities
  • Training must include transferable skills, innovation, entrepreneurship, Open Science practices, and research integrity.
Career Development Plan
  • A Career Development Plan must be established, including training needs, research objectives, and career goals.
